FASA 365 Day 215, Metus Cohibenti, (Boxed Terror)

… As you and your guide enter the chamber, he takes the time to remind you; for the one millionth time to “touch nothing”.

“Yes, yes. I understand already” you condescendingly reassure him.

Looking around the dimly loot room, you can make out objects of ominous nature, of all different sizes. There are symbols and strange hyroglyphics abound, throughout the room.

As you pass by a 3 foot box, your footing slips and you put your hand out to steady yourself… touching the box.

You and the guide stand completely still… nothing happens; and you let yourself breath again

And then it happens. The box rattles a bit, a tune begins to play. The instrument is out of tune but still you seem to recognize the tune, but are not sure from where.

Suddenly, you remember your childhood toys… you look to the guide, his mouth open and eyes wide in terror.

“There’s nothing to fear.” You tell him. “It’s just a toy. A simple plaything”

Again you try to reassure the guide. “Haven’t you ever seen a Jack in the Box before?”

And then, the music stops…. Nothing.

The guide looks at you in side eye and speaks his final words. And a question…

“I said touch NOTHING. A Necromancer’s PLAYTHING is NO TOY. WHY can’t you people LISTEN?”

And then… they meet… Jack.
