FASA 365 Day 42, Nestor or Nesting Crane. Next time you walking along the riverside, look a little harder at that clump of weed and reeds along the riverbank.
Green and brown feathering that camouflages the bird well, add that to that that the muck and bilge gathers on them over time helps.
They grow to upwards of 6ft standing.
Flightless, and INCREDIBLY patient.
FASA 365 Day 41, Great Armored Horned Toad Whale. 20-25 ft Freshwater Amphibian. Found in larger lakes… go figure.
Yes, they all have that dumb look on their faces. Except… there was this time I say one reach up and swallow up a big ol’ nest of “Deaths Head Wasps” (see day 11 of this 365). It’s eyes was WIDE open that day, sinkin’ to the lake bed.
FASA 365 Day 40, the Crod. Much like the great apes of Earth.
Vegetarian. Thumb like appendages on all “hands and feet” However, the differences are clear.
Snorkel like nostrils set above the eyes. Hands and feet are flat and calloused. Shaped more like a rhinoceros rather than possessing what could be called fingers and toes. They move stomach up, and “feet?” first.
Not climbers, they prefer living near the grassy, open plains, not straying far from sheltering crevasse or caves.
They move surprisingly swiftly for their perceived awkwardness.
Artist’s Note: This was inspired by a childhood memory of a game, requiring players “crab walk”.
Funny thing, I was originally going to work on a request from Project Manager at FASA. They requested I do a concept design of a “scorpion dragonfly”. Rather than just stick a scorpion tale on a dragonfly, I opted to do the research. Imagine my surprise when I found… Scorpion Dragonflies are real, they exist.
FASA 365 Day 39. Tri-terror Top. They move in a spinning motion. 4ft diameter on the spin; 8ft reach at the neck. Crustacean.
A pack of 3-4 attacked one of our steam engines, damaging and bringing the train to a stand still. Unfortunately, for them, bringing about their own demise as well. Explosively discovering the engines “namesake”. Steam.
While the engine was repaired, the engineer, hailing from New Orleans, served the nasty “critters” as he called them, with a creole seasoning and moonshine whiskey.
FASA 365 Day 38, Beargon, a request or challenge for the Creature Concept 365 Challenge I’m doing for FASA Games. My Art Director Toni, asked whata’ ya’ get if you combine a bear and a dragon… this is it. I love the quotable expression on his face, “Give it back??? But I won it.”
