FASA Creature Concept 365 Challenge Day 206

FASA 365 Day 206, Dryadalem Silva, (Forest Sprite) 1-2ft. Undetermined how or what the Forest Sprite takes as nourishment.
Forest caretaker. Promoting regrowth of the fallen, or peace to the trees that can’t be saved.
NOT a fan of humans as they kill trees indiscriminately, without regard for the health and welfare of the forest as a whole.
However, legend speaks of a “mountain man” who built a home in their forest. A warrior who’d grown tired of the human race and the ugliness of war. He wanted nothing more than to live out his days in peace. In the solitude of nature.
Respecting the forest, the man took care to only harvest dead or fallen trees to build his home. Further, he made a habit of planting new trees every spring.
The Forest sprites counted him as friend, visiting often, and keeping him hidden from those who would do him harm.
The man served the forest, tree and animal alike, for many years. Longer than any human could have lived, naturally. Blessed by the magics of the Fae.
But, even with the magics blessings, nothing lasts forever.
It came to pass, on a fine spring morning, the old man collapsed just outside the door of his forest home. As he lay dying, the Forest Sprites found him.
Unwilling to accept his death, they followed their natural instincts and attempted extending his life, indefinitely.
They turned him into a tree. As strong and tall a tree as the mans spirit.
When magics proved successful, they gave their friend
one final honor. The Dryadalem Silva blessed the new tree with the mans name.
The first of the Sequoia.

FASA 365 Day 205, Diabolus Malus (Evil Devil). Lets talk a moment about Demons. 25-30 ft. Found in them deep more open caves of the dungeon, accommodating their mass, and or bulk. This fellow is Bukarstahk, 30ft. 2 ton tank of a demon.
Don’t let his size fool you. He is incredibly nimble, and fast.
Tales are told of a hapless amateur adventurer entering Bukarstahks lair. He turned and cried out to the rest of his party that he had found a minotaur.
Insulting a demon is not wise.
All accounts, from those who saw it happen, say that the killing blow came so fast, that the amateurs head was on the ground watching its own body fall in front of him.
A stupefied expression of surprise on his face.
His mouth opening and closing, like a fish.

FASA 365 Day 204, Un-Named, 10ft, Omnivore.
Artists note: I lost count on how many animals were combined to create this critter.
Those big “arms”… “legs”… whatever; have feet at the end of them not hands. So, yup. Its a thing.

FASA 365 Day 200, Volubilem Bufo (Rolly Toad) 1-2ft. Carnivorous, Amphibious.
Prefers the still lakes and swamps.
Quite simply, it floats on the surface, like a bubble. It can steer itself toward swarming insects, AND has been known to inflate itself to reach higher perched prey in the trees.
The Rolly Toad prefers the water but can walk on land. Further, when it pulls its legs and tail into its body, it demonstrates its named ability. To roll.
HOWEVER, its skin is thin and like a balloon bursts easily, and explosively. Releasing a noxious gas and a highly corrosive blood.
Adventurers Note: There is an old legend of how an adventurer was caught off guard while taking a bath to clean some wounds.
He heard some approaching foes. Realizing he was too far away from his gear and his weapons and his clothes he was forced to hide, and….. improvise.
He managed to entice a Rolly Toad out of the water. (Don’t ask how) He then “aimed” the “beach ball” at the swarm of insects hovering over his would be captors.
Of course the Rolly Toad was hungry enough, and proceeded to float itself over the heads of the intended targets.
Well, the bad guys were just happy that the toad was eating the insects, instead of the insects feeding on them; so they let it be.
Allowing the adventurer, at the right moment, to throw a sharp rock; detonating the “acidic dirigible” all over his foe.
Or, so the legend goes.

FASA Creature Concept 365 Challenge Day 199

FASA 365 Day 199, Canis Draconis, Dragon Dog. 8-10 ft.
Artists Note:Saw a dog running and was intrigued by the positioning of the legs as it was running around full tilt.
I couldn’t just draw a dog… well, I could, but where’s the fun in that?
Thing is… now I have an overwhelming urge to write a children’s book… “Does your Dragon get the zoomies?”
